The Wizard of Oz
The ERUDIO Theatre Club has grown: it recently opened a branch for children. The little actors, eight of them in all, have been working diligently for two months under the guidance of Camelia Andriţă, an actress at the Ion Creangă Theatre, and have been putting together their first theatre show. The children were lucky enough to work with an actress who is not only very talented, but also has a special gift to instill emotion and teach children.
The Wizard of Oz is an adaptation by Camelia Andriţă of Frank Baum’s story, which premiered on the 7th of June at the Ion Creangă Theatre before a hall filled with young and old children, friends, parents and grandparents.
Alice – our friend from Wonderland – opened up a book before us and we suddenly found ourselves in a miraculous story-realm. We all travelled to a world of fantasy characters: a frightful but good natured wizard (Andrei Stoleriu), a little girl with pig tails who doesn’t fear anything, not even lightning (Sonia Stanciu), a black and very clever puppy (Iuliana Nyerges), a fearful lion with a charming smile (Roxana Caia), a sweet and wise scarecrow (Ana Perşinaru), a tin man whose smile is more beautiful than that of most real men (Mihnea Posea), a princess who can change into a cat (Mara Baltag) and a queen of all little field mice (Petra Hosu).
Our congratulations to the children, and our thanks to Camelia!
