About theatre
I don’t know about others, but when I was little, I went through the ”when I grow up, I want to be an artist” stage. And I think other children went through it, too. I’m guessing a part of this aspiration comes from the children’s sense for magic. They feel that in the theatre, on the stage, something important is going on. And they are feeling it right: inside the black box called theatre, people live pieces of magic.
It is something to want to go up on the stage and give a piece of yourself, in front of the dozens of pairs of inquisitive eyes who are measuring, dissecting, appreciating you. To play theatre, you need to have a touch of craziness, lots of joy and tons of Emotion. As an amateur and a beginner, all these have to come in double dosage, with a light touch of beautiful unconsciousness.
Still, why did I want to play? Because I feel I have less and less moments for my life, for my little pleasures and thoughts. To me, theatre is a very serious play. Backstage, in the cabin, on stage, in the audience, I met my fears, my inhibitions and uncertainties, my joy, playfulness, and craziness. I met my Emotions. I met them all in a mirror and we had a face-to-face talk. In a nutshell, I met myself.
